Ms. Jones has been conducting an ongoing teacher
research  project using the GEMS club to determine
attitudes and interests on a  longitudinal basis.  This
research was published in the
VSTE Journal and is
available on the Internet.

This teacher research paper discusses the results of
a longitudinal study of the girls who attends GEMS,
their attitudes toward math and science, and their
course choices in high school. Compared to all of the
girls in Ms Jones's school system,  the girls who
attended the GEMS club in fifth and sixth grade
chose to enroll in significantly more and harder
classes, including classes such as AP Calculus, AP
Physics, and AP Chemistry. It also looked at parental
attitudes and encouragement.
